Today, the issue of hunting is a hot-button issue. The passion and controversy over the "sport" of hunting is especially pronounced in Colorado because vast expanses of wilderness and open areas meet densely populated urban areas like Denver. The growing trends of vegetarianism, animal-rights activism, and the rise of supermarket chains all make hunting seem far less necessary than it did when the state was founded in 1876.
Because most people that hunt don't absolutely have to in order to eat food, many residents of Denver consider hunting to be "murder." What do you think?
In a paragraph that begins with a response TS, address this question in a comment below:
Is the hunting of animals today the same as murder?
Is the hunting of animals today the same as murder? I say no it's not because as we continue living the animals of the world populate faster than we can kill them so they are slowly rising, and with some animals they will get over populated and will be out of control, they could destroy things like houses work buildings schools. We as humans need to take the initiative to not let things like that happen, that is why hunting today is not the same as murder.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting is not murder because it is still necessary. In 1876 most people hunted because they needed it for food. Now, we can purchase food from supermarkets which are harvesting farm raised animals. We still must remain part of the food chain in the wild. Animals hunt, but only kill what they need which isn't a whole lot. Now we need none but used to need a lot. Me still need to participate. Do we say that a lion is murdering a zebra when it hunts? We are all still just animals like the lion and the zebra.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this article, I agree that it is murder. I mean, you are still killing things, which is murder. But just because we are humans doesn't give us the right to not know we are murdering the animals. How would you like to be a cute, innocent deer prancing through the woods, them BAM. You are dead... Now you wouldn't like that would you. And to make it worse, you get taken home and eaten, skinned, or used as décor. Isn't this nice. For if that happened when you were human, people would be all over the scene. So if your an animal, its legal to be murdered.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting is not murder and should't be outlawed because animals are one of our original sources of food and we were meant to hunt them. In order to survive, a snake has to hunt and eat a mouse, and a hawk has to hunt and eat a snake, and that is just what nature intended. It's the same for us, we are a part of the food chain and nature intended for us to hunt and eat animals for survival. Hunting is what we are meant to do in order to get food, and therefore is not bad or wrong.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting shouldn't be considered murder because either way we will need food, and not everyone is a vegetarian. Sooner or later we will NEED to hunt animals just for a food supply. Also, animals are just animals they don't help out the human race much other than food and a few other things.
ReplyDeleteToday hunting is like murder because what if you killed a human for the "sport". I say this because wildlife is not infinite and we need to preserve it. There is already too many species on the verge of extinction. It is very important to keep our wildlife alive because we don't want to be alone. So unless you live far in the country in Wisconsin then don't hunt (I say Wisconsin because I lived there in the country and there was always a dear or dangerous animal around the corner that wants to rip your head off).
ReplyDeleteHunting animals today is not like murder because I know that people do it for fun and is an adrenaline rush. People don't just kill people for the adrenaline. They do it because the did something to them or to someone they love unless they are crazy and that is and exception. That is and exception because you are not in your right mind if you are crazy.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that hunting is murder because they are just animals and they were put on earth in order to help us survive. It allows people to eat things like elk and other animals that aren't in the grocery store very often. It also provides people with a sense of pride knowing that they went out and worked for the wonderful food on their table. The food is also fresher and tastes a lot better. Though, I think you should only kill what you need and use a license and hunt in the proper seasons.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the hunting of animals for sport and whether or not it is murder depends on the extent that the person hunting takes it to. For example, hunting as many animals as possible without a limit would be considered murder to me because it is just to entertain the hunter without any greater purpose behind it which in turn may even cause a certain species of animals to die out. While just hunting a bit once in a while is something that I wouldn't consider murder because it could be very well necessary to keep some species from overpopulating. Overall, the hunting of animals today is not something I would consider a s murder as long as it has its limits and is somewhat controlled.
ReplyDeleteAfter thinking about the topic "Is the hunting of animals today the same as murder?" I think that it is not, because for the most part it is, allowed by society. Unlike any murder of a fellow human being, hunting is just the killing of animals. The killing of animals happens all of the time, with hunting, slaughter houses for everyday foods, and it happens in nature. The hunting of animals has been happening every day for a very long time, and it has not been disapproved until now. Hunting is approved by society and it is not the killing of a fellow important human being, therefore it is not the same as murder
ReplyDeleteI do not think that hunting is murder because people have been hunting for forever now and its not any different now than it was back then. Animal are our main source of food so why would we stop hunting? Murdering a human is pointless. Hunting is not pointless animals are what we eat and what people needed to survive back in the day. So hunting therefore is not as bad as some people think it is.
ReplyDeleteI do not think hunting is the same as murder, because animals mean less to us than humans. Also we kill animals to eat and stay alive, but people don't kill humans to eat. When people kill animals they do it for a purpose. One, some people think it is fun to hunt. Two, people can/want to eat animals, especially if they hunted it. I also think this because people are more valuable than animals. People have an effect on our community and they have jobs to shape our community. With animals, they don't have jobs to help and shape the community. But I also think you need to have a hunting license and you should be allowed to kill certain things in certain season, so that they don't become extinct.
ReplyDeleteI believe that hunting is not murder because we aren't killing people. The dictionary definition of murder is the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought, we aren't killing people. Is it wrong though, hard to say, people need food, they just don't do it for sport, but some do, does that make it right? Also hard to say, there are just as many arguments against it as there are for it, but is simply not murder, they are not people.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that hunting animals is consider murder. In my opinion it's not the nicest thing but it's not my choice. The people who don't want to kill animals don't have to. I think killing animals is not murder because it helps some people release anger. Some people also bond with their kids to go hunting. To others it might be a tradition they are following. So to many people it leads them to think other things. So no it's not murder because if you haven't went hunting before you don't know how it feels.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this article I believe that hunting is a murder if people are just doing it because it is a sport. If you are hunting to provide food for your family I think that hunting is totally okay, but when people are killing animals to have fun I think it is unacceptable. Even if there is an abundant amount of the animals I still think it is unfair to the animals to be killed. We do not just kill humans because there are too many of them.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading "The Case for Hunting", I think hunting isn't the same as murder because hunting isn't a crime. Murder is a crime and hunting animals is completely legal as long as it's hunting season. Hunting is for entertainment and to enjoy food we get out of certain animals. Murder is the complete opposite. Murder is killing a person for a stupid reason. Murder is certainly not entertainment, and unless your a cannibal, you certainly don't eat people after killing them. Therefore hunting is just a sport for food and entertainment and is not murder because murder only applies to humans.
ReplyDeleteI think the hunting of animals today isn't considered murder because they are wild animals being killed unlike house pets. We need meat for our survival now and hunting animals is a necessity. Although, I do think people should hunt animals only when needed, not for fun.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting is a very controversial topic because some people kill for their food source but some people kill just for the fun and joy of it. I personally wouldn't hunt and kill animals but I think over all the animal population has survived this long with people frequently hunting. Vegetarian and vegan options are getting better and better and meat may not be necessary soon. However, we are a part of the food chain and hunting is a part of life.
ReplyDeleteHunting animals is not considered murder. It is allowed by the society.Animals are a living things on this earth and do the same things we do to survive, but that is why we hunt the animals so we can eat and survive. .Hunting is part of the food chain. We all hunt, animals hunt for their food so why can we do it.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting IS murder because animals are getting killed when we don't need there meat to survive. And if you say that because they will over populate, people over populate too were not going to go around and kill people because there too many of them. Animals have feelings too people ourselves are animals are brains are just more developed.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading "The Case For Hunting" I think that the hunting of animals is not murder because animals are our primary food source and we need them to survive. Even though animals are living things, it is not the same as murdering a human because we don't eat them like we do animals. To get other foods such as bacon we have to kill pigs, so why is that different from killing an animal yourself to get food? Some animals are crucial to humans in order to survive, and if we don't hunt we may not get them. It is our nature to use the animals put on this earth for food, so i don't feel that hunting is necessarily bad if it is helping us survive.
ReplyDeleteI think that hunting isn't murder. Hunting has a very real purpose ,over population is a very fragile thing. If hunting didn't happen our eco system would slowly crumble and eventually lead to us. Hunting INSNT POINTLESS. If you don't hunt the animal over populates, when they over populate they run out of food, when the run out of food they die, when they die there predators that eat them die, the chain goes on.
ReplyDeleteHunting animals should not be considered murder, because it is not what the definition of murder says. Murder means “the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another” and animals are not human beings. I don’t necessarily think it is okay to kill animals, but I still don’t think it can be called murder. I think people should be allowed to hunt animals, as long as they aren’t going extinct. Hunting has also been going on for a long time and it would be very hard to just ban it. Even though it isn't really murder, it still isn't okay to kill off animals if you aren't going to use it for anything but just decoration.
ReplyDeleteI think there are hunting for sport is murder but not murder if we use the body to the fullest extend like the American Indians did. I find hunting for the sport is pointless because men are just killing to show their masculinity. If you kill an animal and use their whole body and not waste anything than I think it is find to hunt. Overall, hunting for sport is murder but if we use their body than its not murder.
